This classic expression of a cool climate Cabernet Franc has a beautiful magenta hue, with notes of oregano, cracked pepper, and a hint on anise on the nose. This bold red has a burst of fruit on the pallet with notes of raspberry and red cherry and a slight spiciness on mid-pallet giving way to an elegant soft finish with the slightest hint of vanilla.
A moderately warm summer with below average rainfall.
The fruit spent 3 weeks in contact with skins using the punchdown method to extract color and tannins. The blend is comprised of 83% Cabernet Franc, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot fermented and aged separately and blended before bottling. The wine was aged for 8 months in medium plus toast Hungarian Oak.
