This full bodied Reserve, made only in the best of vintages showcases the best of T'Jara Vineyards four estate-grown red varietals Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.
Blueberry and plum aromas mingle with a hint of cranberry and wild berry. The wild berry continues onto the palate with cassis and a hint of vanilla from the oak aging. A full bodied wine with a lingering finish and fine smooth tannins.
2013 was a warm, dry year with perfect growing conditions. A long dry summer was followed with no rain during the harvest season of September and October. This is very rare on the North Fork and allowed ample time for the fruit to fully ripen on the vine.
The fruit spent 2 weeks in contact with skins using the punchdown method to extract color and tannins. The blend is comprised of 44% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot fermented and aged separately and blended before bottling. The wine was aged for 18 months in medium plus toast Hungarian Oak.
